How Can You Help?
Celeste speaking. :)
Many people have asked about or offered fundraisers or similar things to help my Mom and Dad during this time. But, I think my Mom would like the dignity of earning money, if that is possible. She works hard at writing and generally does not profit much from it because she gives so many of her books away. (How many of you are reading this column and have a book she gave you?)
I’m going to be bold here . . .
I realize that I’m a proud daughter and I cannot imagine the world with out my mom’s words; but I’m among many who have said that her writing is very valuable. If you want to help her, and help her career as she takes up the baton in her family finances, please help her “trading,” in the words of Proverbs 31, by buying two or more of her autographed books from the “Books” tab at Latayne.com.
Here are some other ideas:
There are several holidays (Valentine’s and Mother’s Day) coming up soon. Get an autographed book for yourself and for a gift? Is there a birthday coming up for someone you love?
You may want to grow in your faith. I know that for my family, studying the Phases of Faith is a cornerstone in our family’s faith. If you get the book Hinge of Your History, you will read about this in a practical way. Get a book for yourself and one for someone else who needs more faith and more peace in his or her life. You get a free wristband with each purchase.
Buy copies of her books and donate them to your church library. That makes your purchase tax deductible, I believe.
Buy copies of The Hinge of Your History: The Phases of Faith for your small group study. Or for your ladies’ Bible class? She will give a free download of a “Three-D Model of Reality” for the classes. And free wristbands.
Donate copies of The Hinge of Your History: The Phases of Faith to an inner-city church, or a prison study group, or any other people who are struggling with faith and can’t pay for the books. (May also be tax-deductible.) Free download and wristbands.
Inform yourself about one of our presidential contenders’ faith. Get a copy of The Mormon Mirage and read it and get one to give to a friend who has questions about Mormonism.
Want a fast-paced mystery that tells about how people struggle with their Mormon faith? Buy a copy of Latter-day Cipher: A Novel for yourself and one for a friend.
With these book purchases on her web site, payment is via PayPal. If you would rather send a written order for books and include a check, use the prices on Latayne.com and send your order and a check made out to:

Another great thing you can do is after reading any of her books, please post a review on Amazon or Barnes and Nobles’ Web sites. Many Mormons go on these sites and “bash” books critical of Mormonism and try to bring the review ratings down. (See the comments on Shaun Tabbet’s review here for a good example of this.)
The third thing you can do is sign up, on her website Latayne.com, to be put on her newsletter list. It’s free. She has a VERY interesting book coming out soon, published by an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Be the first to know all about it!
I personally thank you in advance for this.
Thank you – above all – for holding my mom up in your prayers. I am amazed by God’s ability in her life. No doubt you have been a major part of bringing that into plain view.

Money’s really tight here right now, but I can keep doing what I’ve been doing and that’s pray like crazy for your family! Adding prayers that the Lord will always provide financially for your family, too!
Praying!
Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Great ideas, Celeste! I will publicize them to my networks too.
Continuing to pray!
Psalms 130:1-2, 5-7 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications (5-7) I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
Hope everything’s still progressing well!
Know that the Lord is always with you, wrapping His loving arms around you and holding on tight! Praying right now!
Psalms 18:2-6 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
Great ideas Celeste..thanks for the suggestions and I will definitely be following through on those ideas! We send continued love and prayers to all of you.
Good daughter, Celeste!
Thanks for posting this.
