We Love October
Every year, it seems like Noel and I are the most excited during October. For one, it’s my birthday month:). But, that aside, there are so many things to love about October/the Fall . . .I feel a top ten list coming on . . .
- The weather is getting cooler.
- It’s not so hot anymore (can you tell we like it cool?!).
- The trees are changing – here in MO, it’s absolutely beautiful.
- THE HALLOWEEN PARTY! This year, it’s Hogwart’s Halloween, and we have over 60 people attending, even from out of town! It’s going to be great fun and we have tons of surprises planned for the evening.
- We can wear sandals with jeans and long-sleeved t-shirts. This is my favorite fashion combo ever.
- SOUP. We’ve made vegetarian chili, sweet potato soup, and white bean garlic soup already. There’s something so simple and satisfying about making and enjoying soups.
- Baking – now that it’s not going to make the whole house a sauna:). Cookies, breads, and sweet breads. I love the produce selection and flavors that come with fall.
- Weekend trips and getaways. Not sure we’ll make any this month (it’s wayy too close to our party!), but it seems like we always squeeze in a trip to Eureka Springs or Branson at least.
- Walking outside and smelling the crisp air, enjoying cloudy or ‘gloomy’ days (our favorite) and leaving the windows open during the day.
- Last but not least, seeing Noel get so excited about Halloween. He is like a little kid on Xmas morning all month long. I love it!
Celestial being – hey I stumbled on your blog site from some friend’s blog!!! I have heard from my sister who is married to Shelby’s wife’s brother (if that is confusing) that you are in Springfield where they are. How are things going? How is married life? How is your family? I am in Abilene in my 2nd year in the marriage and family therapy program and love it!!! hope to hear from you soon!!!
Yes, I love it too! I’ve been taking walking breaks at work because it’s cool enough to do :) The air is the most wonderful part to me!

It was great to talk to you and Noel last week. The weather was awesome! I totally agree with your list. Including appreciating Noel’s mood during Halloween.
Can’t wait to hear how the Halloween bash goes! I know it is a much anticipated and very extravagant event (as far as Halloween parties go)so…happy planning and please post pics and details for those of us far away!
I really enjoyed your list, Celeste! I actually like hot weather, but this time of year is so refreshing in so many ways. I think your list will actually help me enjoy this month even more. And the party is going to be fun, I sure, too. :-)
