My Hagrid Costume

Here I am in the Hagrid costume I made. I wove the entire beard and wig, made the shoes and sewed all the clothing. Turned out pretty good I thought. I’m just over 7 feet tall in it.

This was taken at the Lubbock, TX (we were there for a wedding) Barnes and Noble on the night of the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” release party. I got put on spotted.lubbockonline.com with it.

Maxx & Janelle’s Blog

Well, my younger sister Janelle finally took the plunge and got a blog! And, I’m very happy to say, that it is wonderful!

It’s not only funny, but well written, and includes “her voice” so much that even if you don’t know her you will very quickly know what she’s like!

With the few posts that are on there already give such a great picture of her and Maxx, their relationship, their sense of humor, and their daily life, that it should almost be the thing they give people when they first meet them instead of a name or business card…

“Hi, I’m Maxx, this is my wife Janelle, here… read our blog…

If she keeps posting, or even if she doesn’t, it is quickly becoming one of my new favorites to look at daily hoping for updates.

Lubbock Bound

We still have a TON of pictures from our trip to the Land of Enchantment a few weeks ago; we just have to get them from our friends’ camera. Man, that was a GREAT trip! Hope to have those up in a few days . . . stay tuned:). **UPDATE** CHECK OUT THE SIDE BAR FOR SOME NEW PICTURES! (We like to keep things in ‘date order’:)).

On another note, we’re heading to the good ‘ole town of Lubbock next week, Lord willing, for work and play. We’ll meet with a couple clients there, but the highlight will be Cari’s wedding! Oh, what fun that will be! I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends and having a great reunion; and I’m excited to introduce many of them to Noel.

Hope you have a great weekend! If you live in Lubbock, we hope to see you!

The Simpsons

20th Century Fox is holding a contest to find the Springfield with the most Simpsons spirit to premiere The Simpsons Movie. Fourteen Springfields from around the country submitted short videos. The best one wins the chance to be the host city for the world premiere of The Simpsons Movie later this summer. Voting takes place this week only. VOTE NOW! Voting ends July 9 at 2:59 am ET/11:59 pm PT. Tell your friends!

My thinking is there’s only one Springfield that you can easily drive to Branson, MO from.

UPDATE: We lost… stupid contest anyway.

Wayne and Carolyn’s on the 4th

We all went out to my uncle Wayne’s for the 4th of July like we always do. It was fun to see everybody.

Here’s Evelyn, “Boppie”, and my mom all enjoying talking.

And here I am outside watching the bottle rockets.

Best things about the iPhone

If you don’t know what the iPhone is, or you know what it is but aren’t sure what all the hype is about, here’s a list of The Best Things About the iPhone.

Basically, the iPhone is going to change the world of cell phones as we know it. Someone asked me why it’s better than a regular old cell phone and I told them that it’s like asking someone who has only known radio why TV is better. Or, better yet, why using the internet to research a paper is easier and better than going to the library. Of course there are still people that will go to the library… and there are still people who will insist (for years to come) that their cell phone is just as good. But it’s not. We all know it.

So… read and learn!

Using the iPhone

Yesterday the iPhone came out… and my brother was one of the many in line all day to await its arrival.

He was in Dallas, Texas at the Apple store, where, across the street, a company called “Current Energy” is located.

All day long this company gave away things to those in line, including water, chairs to sit on, employees to hold your place, use of their restrooms, t-shirts, and pens and pins with their logo.

Instead of thinking of this as, “Oh great, iPhone comes out today and all these people will be wanting to use our restrooms, take up our parking spots, and generally be annoying,” they thought, “What a great opportunity to get our name out there!”

And it worked!

Not only did I hear of it (while driving from Albuquerque, NM to Springfield, MO), but their logo is now permanently plastered on news articles around Dallas about the iPhone and interviews with those who waited inline.

What a great example of turning someone else’s hype into a marketing tool for yourself!
