Erin Casey’s Wedding

We got home from Albuquerque just in time to go to Erin Casey’s wedding. Erin is Ryan Sundlie’s sister-in-law’s sister. It was the first time we got to see Ryan, Colleen and Henry since they’ve returned home for the summer. We were happy Henry remembered us.

Not sure what these guys were doing… but it was a funny picture.

Albuquerque Balloon

On the way to somewhere we saw a lot of balloons (as per usual) and Celeste snapped this nice shot of one coming in for a landing near by.

Riding the Taos Ski Lift

We all (Chris, Kim, Celeste’s parents, Celeste and I) drove up to Taos one day and rode the ski lift. It was actually very fun, and relaxing! Here are a few pictures from it.

At Basil Doc’s with Friends

On the way to Albuquerque with Chris and Kim we stopped in Amarillo to see friends and eat at Basil Doc’s, this great little pizza place!

From “left” to “right” there’s Taylor and Amber Weems, Dr. Beth Robinson, Hannah McNeill, Celeste, (me - not pictured) and Kim and Chris Taylor.

Fun was had by all!
And no, Taylor isn’t giving the camera a “Tweety”.

The Smiths and Bambino’s

We went to eat at Bambino’s down near MSU today with Shannon, Shelby and little baby bambino Quinn. Shelby got called away to the hospital for a while, but he came back and we got a good visit in. Plus, that is one good restaurant!

Great Marketing Ideas

There have been a few ideas I’ve heard of lately that I have thought are really great marketing ideas. Criss Angel’s “FreakYourMind.com” is one of them. Using a medium that is ever more familiar, and playing on the fact that people 1) love being fooled, and 2) love fooling their friends, he has come up with a self-perpetuating campaign. (Make out the email to your friend like it’s been forwarded around a lot… it works even better!)

Well, today I was, once again, reading Seth Godin’s blog and found yet another one. This restaurant in California is having its customers play “rock paper scissors” with the person taking your order. If you win, you get one dollar off your meal.

I agree with Seth… this is a great way to humanize the line worker! It’s a way to make the day a bit different than the normal routine. Like replying with a bit of trivia when someone asks, “What do ya know?” It gives people a smile, and gives their day that little twist of “zest” we’re all so often missing.

Buying Shoes

Here’s a nice picture of what it’s like to go shoe shopping with me. Of course this is for when you’re buying materials for Hagrid’s shoes… which is certainly a bit different than going to Payless.

By the way, the shoes turned out GREAT! But you’ll have to wait until Halloween for online visuals of my Hagrid costume.

Oklahoma Weather

I miss a lot about OC, it was great… but I don’t miss much about Oklahoma at all, especially the way they overly freak out about the weather! When I say “freak out”… I mean it too.

Sure, weather can be dangerous, but I’ve never understood where the logic that because you’re watching a trained weather man you are going to be more safe than those who aren’t. The idea that weather men… and women… and “teams”… can “save” a life is just silly. Their warnings may help me know to take cover… but that’s STILL no guarantee that it will save my life!

Along these lines John Stewart of Comedy Central’s Daily Show had this very truth-filled statement…
