For those of you who don’t know Apple just recently unveiled its new cell phone… and of course they call it the iPhone.
I’ve been trying to tell people about some of the things it does, and how I believe (as do many, many others) that it is going to revolutionize the way cell phones are made and used… not to mention thought about! But it’s hard to explain it to people.
Just like trying to tell someone what an iPod was, or even more so like trying to tell someone who only has read books what television is like, this is something you really have to see to understand. It’s something that made my younger brother Jason tell me today, “It makes me want to work for Apple.”
So… if you don’t have time to watch the hour long keynote introduction to the iPhone (which I really encourage you all to do), here is a short, but fairly informative, look at the iPhone from CBS News.
The weekend had all kinds of promise to be a time to catch up, enjoy some extra working time, and relaxation.
When the lights flickered for the last time at 8:30 pm, however, we knew our plans came to naught.
We, along with 80 percent of Springfield, lost power after 2 inches of ice fell, breaking trees and power lines. We did what most people did - skip houses - when one lost power - on to the next. Today, Noel and I are VERY thankful to be with friends who have power, internet and coffee:). It’s the little things . . .
We’re so thankful to be warm and safe; but please keep the very young and the very old especially in your prayers. So many people are without.
Sure, our home may be without power till the weekend or longer but we’re thankful for loving friends who open their homes to us. It’s hard to believe how very little we really do need.
Here’s a picture of all the poor trees on Park Central East. Even here downtown it looks like a war zone.
We were very blessed to be able to stay a couple of nights at Gaitha and George’s house. They have a gas powered fireplace so while it was still cold there it was much warmer than other places.
Here’s a picture of my mom and dad’s backyard fence. Look at the ice! It’s like 2+ inches on everything!
One nice thing about ice that thick is you don’t have to scrape your car windows off. You just give it a well placed “tap” with the corner of the ice scraper and it shatters and slides off.
Here are a couple of pictures from my mom and dad’s house. The ice damage in Springfield is enormous. With over 90% of the city without power it’s been declared a state of emergency. Driving across town, let alone out of their neighborhood, looks like a “tree dismantling” bomb went off. Or a giant stomped his foot and broke off every limb on every tree.
We made some Vegan cupcakes tonight from the recipe book “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World.” If you’ve not heard of this book and you either A) are vegan, or B) love cupcakes, then you have to get it!
We got it, among with a slew of other vegan cookbooks, for Christmas, and if these are any indication of how good all the cupcakes are going to be we are going to have to lock up the book and only get it out once a month so we don’t eat them every night!
Here’s a picture… they are the cookies and cream ones… just in case you’re wondering. Mmmm, mmmm, vegan!!
