Our Halloween party went off great. Everyone came in costume and in character! Everyone stayed in character too!
The theme was “Men in Black are recruiting”. So everyone came as someone the Men in Black might want as an agent. Noel was “Marshall Flinkman” from Alias, but as if he was already an agent of the MiB… so he was “Agent M”. Others that were in attendance were Merlin the Wizard, the Lady of the Lake, Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, Columbo, Carmen San Diego (Celeste), Clark Kent, Chloe Sullivan, Edgar the bug (from the first MiB movie), Bortasha Badenov, Dr. Emmett Brown, Dr. Evil, Eric Cartman, Edna Mode, Jim Street, Mystique, and Dr. Hank McCoy (the Beast).
Upon arrivaal guests recieved a packet containing their temporary MiB ID card, as well as a list of objectives the participants had to achieve by the end of the night. They had to complete tests in sharp shooting, bomb defusing, awareness and code breaking. They also had to obtain one piece of information from 3 different specified guests. They were also to collect hidden items in the form of a “code”, “alias”, and “passport” cards. All of these things added up to points the recieved at the end of the night, at which point they were also given a 3 page exam. The exam was based on the MiB manual we wrote for the party (email us if you’d like a copy), as well as observation questions from the night, and a general knowledge section. Prizes were awarded for best costume, best character, and best overall score… which won the place in the MiB.
Everyone had a great time!
Finally, here are a few pictures from the party.

26 Oct 2006Here’s an interview of fashion designer Vera Wang from the 2004 Olympus Fashion Week. This video is from Lauren Ezersky’s web site… which I did for her. (hence the post on this site.)
If you’re into fashion at all, you should totally check out behindthevelvetropes.tv. She’s getting a lot more videos on there now-a-days, including interviews from the 2006 Olympus Fashion Week (just a month ago).
Enjoy!

18 Oct 2006For those of you who are reading the Bible as the only authority, as it claims to be, and are looking at the world around you as more and more with an attitude of “what are these people thinking?” This article is very helpful in defining the sort of “global mindset” that is postmodernism. It does a great job of talking about “modernism” first, and then goes into describing “postmodernism” and why it is destructive to authority, and specifically the Bible.
If you’re interested in Bible studies that are very non-postmodern, and take the Bible as it is, and leave out current thought processes, history, culture, and most of all experience, then visit this site and download some of the studies. The “intro to representational thinking” are some of the best for first time visitors.

16 Oct 2006Thanks Dan for bringing Witty Comics to my attention. It’s fun! I’ve decided to create a comic about a lackadaisical CIA agent named “Carl”.
Click on the picture to read my first entry in the series… we’ll see how far it goes.
